READING WITH YOUR CHILD – PREPARING FOR THE LIST

If your child is a reluctant reader or you want to know more about the reading requirements for year 12 English or EAL English in Queensland, you need this course. Great for parent support and to help guide your child through the hurdles of critical reading.

Learning Outcomes

The prescribed text list (PTL) in Queensland is the list of texts that have been selected by the QCAA for your child to study in year 12. They include a list of novels, plays, poetry, short stories and films/television programs to be used in the first three terms of work and a shorter list of eight texts for the final term’s external exam

 

The aim of this course is to: 

·     explain what the prescribed text list is

 

·     familiarise parents and teachers with how the list is used for senior study in Queensland 

 

·     suggest how students can be best supported for their ATAR requirements for English/EAL

 

·     offer strategies for parents to support their child’s progress in English in regards to the texts on the prescribed text list
